I’ve bought the Marantz PM6006 based on What Hi-Fi’s 5 star rating and I must admit I love the very smooth sound when paired with my Dali Zensor 3s. For my ears the Cirrus DAC inside the PM6006 is marvelous. Unfortunately I cannot demo the CXA60 in my area, does anyone know if its sound signature is as smooth as Marantz or is it more on the bright side? Would it pair well with my Zensor 3 to be really worth the price difference?

Craig Harrison says:

I wish there was some place where you get honest advice. I love great sound, but most advice come from so called audiophiles. The more you look into it, the more you think they have a mental Illness. Most telling is that they can’t even agree with each other, and when blind tested they can’t differentiate between expensive gear and budget stuff.
I only want to spend the money I need. I simply don’t except (or certainly I can’t), that CD players, blue ray players, cables sound different.
So what is it? Any old amp and half decent speakers.
Non audiophile answer only.

I’m undecided on this or the Arcam A19…
