The Outlaw Audio Ultra-X13 is a high output, low distortion subwoofer that passes THX Ultra certification with a single subwoofer, an impressive feat! Who knows what the exact specs are required to achieve such certification, but it’s got to have some chops.
The Subwoofers on “The List” should all be heavy hitting subwoofers, but there may come a time when I hear a subwoofer and have to take it down. I hope not, but if a subwoofer can’t deliver the way I think it should, it would have to come off. That’s always a risk in hearing a subwoofer from a brand I haven’t heard before.
Fortunately, the Ultra-X13 brought home the bacon! While I didn’t think EQ 2 was quite “deep” enough for my personal taste, EQ 1 with all ports open delivered a deeper in room response. No doubt, some people might prefer EQ 2, I just found that EQ1 and all ports open delivered the “deepest” response, and plenty of output without any noticeable penalty.
Other subs on “The List” may give a “deeper presentation”, but the Ultra-X13 is a clear departure from most subwoofers that barely make noise under 30 Hertz, and absolutely deserves to be on The List. With a true 13-14 Hertz bottom end in room, it easily destroys more “pedestrian” subwoofers.
The bass is really clean too. I imagine it would be even “cleaner” on a concrete floor, which has nothing to do with the subwoofer itself. A wood floor will have an influence on any subwoofer, but I really think the increased weight reduced the down firing influence a lot. The bass does translate to my seat more, which some people might prefer.
As all of the ported subs on “The List” should be, these have much more impressive depth than a “pedestrian” subwoofer will deliver, are comfortable all day due to being ported and having a flat response (not peaky like most), and have the power to startle and shock you in big explosions. Good stuff!
Musically they deliver a solid, even presentation that most people aren’t used to, but I personally consider deep bass to be more accurate. They can make tiny speakers sound massive, a sure sign of a good sub. It may have a THX rating, but music benefits just as much as movies do from deep bass, as far as I’m concerned anyway.
If your significant other wants new furniture, but you want new subwoofers, Outlaw might have just the answer you’re looking for!

LG 4K 3D that I replaced previous Vizio with a Square Trade type warranty. Love the LG, some issues aside. Going through Amazon means you can get a decently priced 5 year warranty (strongly recommend for TV’s and AVR’s)

Another winning review and video presentation. Keep them coming, looking forward to the next one. Oh, and give those dogs a hug for me.
I live in an apartment, dual subwoofers are not an option.
Nice video. I love your style of videos. Easy to listen to and very informative.

How do these compare to the PB-16?
Love your blog and no nonsense approach…calming
Great video! If I use one of your affiliate links and then navigate to something different on Amazon, do you still get some benefits? I plan on buying a Harmony Elite Bundle and I might as well go through one of your links if it’ll help the channel!
Planning on getting the 5000 amp some day and the sub for the dedicated theater soon. Great video
